LEYA MAY

Leya May is a London-based artist, originally from New York, USA. Classically and jazz-trained in clarinet, saxophone, and piano, she has now fully embraced her voice as her primary instrument.

Honouring her Chinese heritage, her stage name blends her Chinese name, Xu Lei, with “Lunar,” reflecting her intention to channel and embrace her feminine energy—something she found challenging growing up in predominantly male-dominated academic environments.

Currently, Lunei Lei is working on her debut EP, a project nurtured throughout her years studying mathematics at the University of Manchester, where she released her first single in her first year. Set for release by the end of 2025, her EP reflects the fusion of her musical and visual artistry. For Lunei Lei, music is a deep passion, and creating physical art serves as her meditation/ medication.
